As a test engineer, you will be required to assess the functionality, the usability, and the security of software, to ensure that any flaws in the system are eradicated to provide product excellence prior to sales.
To be successful as a test engineer you should have a passion for detecting and solving problems and an eagle-eye for detail along with the ability to see the overall picture. An excellent test engineer has good familiarity with the systems development life cycle, superb analytical skills, and an above-average ability to foresee technical problems.
Test engineers are responsible for designing test scenarios, running these tests, and preparing reports on the effectiveness and defects to the production team, thereby ensuring that the product works efficiently prior to being implemented.
